Important Update: GPSR Compliance for Shipments to the EU

Important Update: GPSR Compliance for Shipments to the EU

We are reaching out to remind you of the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), which came into force on December 13, 2024. As we initially advised in December, this new regulation will impact all shipments to the European Union (EU), including those where goods originate from within the EU and are delivered to an EU-based customer.

Key Points of the GPSR:

  • The GPSR applies to all products landing in the EU, irrespective of their country of origin.

  • Even if a product is manufactured and shipped within the EU (e.g., from Germany to Germany), it must comply with the new regulations.

  • Labeling and traceability requirements will be strictly enforced, requiring businesses to ensure products meet all safety obligations before being sold or shipped within the EU market.

  • Products must have a clearly identifiable responsible party (Importer/Distributor) based in the EU, who will be accountable for safety compliance.

For full details, please refer to the official EU guidance here: EU GPSR Advisory.

What This Means for You

If you are shipping goods to the EU or operating within the EU, you must ensure your shipping labels, product documentation, and compliance processes align with the GPSR requirements before the December deadline. Failure to comply may result in delays, fines, or product rejections at customs.

Next Steps:

  • Review your current shipping and labeling processes to ensure GPSR compliance.

  • Update your product safety documentation where necessary.

  • Confirm your EU responsible party details to meet regulatory requirements.

  • If you have any concerns, contact our support team for guidance on ensuring compliance.

This regulation represents a significant change in consumer safety enforcement within the EU, and we strongly encourage all clients to take proactive steps now to avoid potential disruptions.
